Epicurean Institute of Umbria, Italy Presents the International Wine Tasting Village at The Coconut Grove Arts Festival - Feb 13,14 &15

at the Epicurean Institute in Perugia, Italy

Miami, FL - Feb. 6, 2010 – The Epicurean Institute, with locations in Italy and New York City, is a proud participating sponsor of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival®, presented by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Florida, taking place this President’s Day Weekend, February 13 to 15, 2010. The Epicurean Institute will be hosting the International Wine Tasting Terrace. Now in its 47th season, this outdoor festival, one of the most renowned in the country, is the showcase for over 350 artists from 35 countries and Canada, selected from over 1,200 applicants, and includes a Culinary Pavilion and live musical entertainment.

The Epicurean Institute will be hosting the Wine Tasting Terrace, located in the front garden of the Coconut Grove Woman’s Club, just north of the Main Entrance on McFarlane Road at South Bayshore Drive. Over 20 wines will be presented throughout the Wine Tasting Terrace.

Featured white wines include: Australia: Evil Chardonnay; California: Big House Pinot Grigio, Cupcake Chardonnay, St. Francis Chardonnay; Italy: St. Supéry Sauvigno Blanc, Pighin Pinot Grigio, Terre Ovieto; From Pregon: King Estate Pinot Gris, Next Riesling.

Featured red wines include: Argentina: Salentein Malbec; Australia: Penfolds Thomas Hyland Shiraz; California: Concannon Merlot, Cupcake Merlot; Chile: Mont Gras Reserve Cabernet Sauvingon, Santa Rita Reserve Merlot; France: Bouachon Côtes-du-Rhône; Italy: A Mano Chianti, Terre Chianti, and from Oregon: Acrobat Pinot Noir.

At the Center of the Village will be the Pieper Heidsick Champagne VIP area. Epicurean Institute’s Dean of U.S. and International Studies, Mr. Bob Lipinski, a Certified Sommelier will be at the event throughout the day to answer questions about the featured wines and provide information about the various programs offered by the Epicurean institute’s main Campus in Umbria, Italy and in New York City. Mr. Lipinski is a wine educator, enologist and viticulturist who has conducted seminars worldwide, taught the Executive Staff at the White House “How To Pair Wine with Food,” “Proper Wine Service,” and “Sensory Evaluation Skills.” He is the author of four books, The International Beverage Dictionary, Professional Beverage Management, The Complete Beverage Dictionary, and Professional Guide to Alcoholic Beverages.

Executive Chef Ms. Christina Yamada is the Epicurean Institute Wine Tasting Terrace Guest Chef, to demonstrate and recommend wine pairings. She is a Certified Master Chef, having graduated Cordon Bleu from Peter Kump’s Culinary School in New York, 1994. Since then, she has worked with celebrities as a personal chef, and for the TV Food Network. Currently, she is Executive Chef at Atchana’s Kitchen, Coconut Grove, and principal of the Savory Fare Catering Company.

The Epicurean Institute’s Wine Tasting Village will be open during festival hours, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Admission to the Wine Tasting Village is only $15 and includes the wine tasting accompanied by hors d’oeuvres. Admission is limited to 21 years or older, with proof of age required.
